Another Food Update

Here's another update on my project to list all the food and drink in the drama. I started out with a preliminary list based on skimming, my memory and other people's rewatches. I'm now slowly working through a full rewatch. I've been doing 2-3 episodes a week and posting here with updates every couple of weeks. The master post has now been updated through episode 30. I’ve added about 20 new events between 25 and 30 inclusive.

This update is mostly about smart things other people have said, plus a few more thoughts and questions. Some of these episodes didn’t have any events before this update but now they all have at least one.

In the last update [personal profile] starriewolf helped translate the signs in episode 19 and even identified the food in the restaurant ad!

[personal profile] starriewolf also left a great comment on Shen Wei’s fruit bowl on the main post. Now I regret not being able to include all the decorative fruit bowls in my list!

And the helpful anon commented to identify the coffee maker in Dr Cheng’s office -- which apparently is not a model which can automatically add in milk/creamer. So I’m back to being pluzzed about the milk in the coffee.

Here are my notes and questions form episodes 25 to 30:

Can anyone translate the signs in the restaurant where Da Qing and Da Ji have their date? You can see it at 19:18 in episode 26. Can anyone identify what they are eating? I can make out a pile of pale green stuff, and some round orange things but nothing in detail.

We learn that GCC brings food to several graves including cup noodles for the novel writer and chocolate for the game playing kid. I’m especially charmed by the cup noodles since that dude had mantelpiece full of them.

Characters are frequently shown to be drinking out of mugs that we can’t see what’s inside. But we do know that both tea and coffee are on offer at SID headquarters

ep 8: I'd like to correct my initial impression. Having watched the episode in question, I saw another better close-up shot of ZYL's kitchen in which I can definitely identify them as large oranges, not mandarins lol.

ep 26:
Giant white sign to the left with pink words: Dragon City | the coming of spring | blind date
small text (loose translation):
tied together by fate even a thousand miles apart (reference to red string of fate)
(find) love at Dragon City blind date mixer

I... honestly can't tell what the food is, other than the oysters and the decorative slices of lemon, which could suggest non-Chinese cuisine? They aren't dishes I recognise, though.
I can offer you a screenshot (click for full size)

I'm glad to hear that! I was starting to doubt my own eyes there. *g*

Thank you for this!! I love your dedication and I'm learning a lot. :D

I'm not to ep.26 in my rewatch yet but FWIW on first watch I had the impression they were eating non-Chinese food...

I wish we got a better look at the food! I tried zooming in and none of it looks familiar. Could it be Chinese food presented in a very modern & fancy restaurant way? The stack of greenish stuff could be noodles?? And the brownish thing behind it toward Da Qing almost looks like duck (perhaps glazed) but shaped into a column. The yellow squares... I assume vegetable of some sort but it could be anything!
