(Also, over here, people generally take their shoes off at home, but it's unusual to see that on TV unless it's specifically a plot or characterisation point.)
Same here as well. I hear it's because TV set floors tend to be too gunky to comfortably wear socks?

(Also, the Chinese people I know all take off their shoes when coming home.)
