But at the same time it may be the first time (after his grandma at least) that people are suddenly very interested in his activities, even if it's mostly just work activities, and that may be new and exciting for him and feel like an instant bond. :)

Ohh, I see what you mean. Yes, great point! He's getting a different quality (and quantity) of attention, and yeah, I can totally see how that makes him feel like this is an entirely new milieu, and they've accepted him (even if sometimes the attention is exasperation g).

(And SID people are not having it either, and instead help him and grumble about him and give him things. :))

But I just like it better when SW is really important to him and makes him feel safe, it's one of my favorite things about the novel even if most of what I love about it is not 'canon' anymore. :D
