Hi, welcome back to the sixty-billion-comments club! :D
Hee! Hi! I'm slowly starting to tunnel through my inbox.
And there's even more of it in the drama, I love that they took this thread and ran with it. :D
Yes! Gruff CSZ getting to express his soft side is really lovely. (And it's not at all surprising he didn't get to do that with any of the other SID members, really.)
I found that a weird statement for the novel, too, as you've seen in the other comments. I still don't quite know what exactly I'm supposed to be thinking of Shen Wei's social skills, or whether this is one of those instances where some things were changed at some point during the writing process, and traces of an older concept still linger.
This is one of those areas where I wonder whether the meaning is clearer in a Chinese context, where social skills and etiquette and everything are so nuanced.
Personally I think almost all people look better with longer hair, at almost all times.
Ha, I'm pretty much the opposite. I have watched entire seasons of shows I wasn't particularly into just because the female lead had short hair. ;-p
Ha, OMG, that would have been so very OUCH, for him to imagine having been with SW in all his past lives, only to then discover the truth.
Oof!!
I'm not seeing the clumsiness. Carelessness, maybe - I can see him breaking stuff by not taking care of it much more easily than by being clumsy!
Yeah, the JJWXC version works much better for me.
I headcanon that he can drive, and he's actually fine with a lot of tech, including modern lab equipment, which he'd need to be able to use to be doing cutting-edge science.
Heh, whereas I headcanon that he was so brilliant and driven that Professor Zhou was convinced to let him do all-theory courses, exemption for the practical. Or Cheng Xinyang did most of the technology side of their lab work, and Shen Wei made up for that with precision and dexterity in other areas. :-)
But also by genuinely caring about protecting Haixing! Like, he's terrible and going about it in wrong, bigoted ways, but at least he has principles
Yes, that's very true. It's kind of his saving grace, isn't it, even though he's awful in a lot of ways.
