he's a being that everyone hates and no one trusts, and an inexperienced half-feral kid/very young adult, and a one-of-a-kind freak hybrid, ALL AT ONCE. (And probably several other things that make people hate him.) And now he's suddenly the divine protector that everyone is kinda automatically required to work with/for? And he actually successfully establishes his authority? Damn, mad kudos

Seriously! I hadn't really thought about how he pulled it all off, but when you lay it all out like hat, it's MASSIVELY impressive, and I would read a whole novel just about that!
