"Oof, it can't have been easy choosing scenes to excerpt here! But I love what you picked. :D"
Hee, thank you! Surprisingly, it was a lot easier than I expected - skipping everything too convoluted or with too many random characters kinda just leaves you with these. xD :D
"The initial image of Pangu with his axe was very impressive, and so was Kunlun shedding his scorched skin after he's struck by divine lightning, but for the most part the mythological parts didn't leave much of an impression for me."
These are definitely some of the most impressive ones for me too! When the darkness splits and the light floods in at the beginning is such a cool description to me. I also loved the human aging in the blink of an eye, but that's not very sweeping, it's just very cinematic. :D
"Honestly I don't really get why he's doing what he's doing, and I don't like his disregard for the costs."
You and him both. xD /spoilers
"And I have even less of an idea how he got from all of this to what he says to Shen Wei ... where did that revelation about Shen Wei's plans come from? I feel like I'm missing something there."
Yeah, I think I said it in the previous post that I don't know where he got this bit of information. When I was re-reading this chapter I looked for hints and I still haven't found any, so yeah, I also have no idea.
"I wonder if ZYL being drawn to the Hallows in the drama is partially inspired by this?"
Ooooh, could be! (And the visions he can't control possibly too!)
"The sight disrupted his heart's melody and his control of his limbs! :D"
:D :D :D I'm grinning so much at this, BEST COMMENTARY. :D
"I love that his restraint is present already before he meets Kunlun - it's not something Kunlun inspires in him; it's as innate to him as the brutality."
Yes yes YES! ♡ He firmly chose the life he wanted to live long before he met Kunlun.
"The youth's hands trembled and the corpse fell from his hands into the water, sending a splash on to his face. He looked at the approaching Lord Kunlun in a bit of panic, pitch-black gaze fixed on him, mouth agape but unable to respond for a moment."
This feral bb, aw!!
"Lord Kunlun leaned against the boulder artlessly" "Lord Kunlun laid down on the boulder"
:D :D :D Just Zhao Yunlan being Zhao Yunlan, nothing to see here, LMAO.
And the name conversation is actually here! It's a bit early for that, I can see why it's not here anymore (and moved to the Shen San story instead).
"In the JJWXC version, Kunlun quotes Xiao-Wei, but rephrases part of his statement into something more elegant (the fan translation unfortunately obscures the quote)."
Oh, that's a really cool way to do that (when the second part of the quote stays intact). And I like the "I don't like it" part too, yes! (Though I also like when they both say the exact same thing.) Thank you all the information and analysis! :) ♡
