Yeah, that's very true, IMO. I have a lot more context now than I did the first time I tried to read the novel, but it's still WAY over my head. *g*

Like, have this character who is terrified of everything be suddenly NOT terrified of this one objectively terrifying person, and see what happens. :D
It's such a brilliant choice, and you can see why they had Xiao-Guo latch onto Lao-Chu right from the start in the drama. :D
That's kind of a funny thing to change, it's not like it's very different, and not like it matters what exactly DQ wants to get. :P
Right? Sometimes the changes are immediately obvious, or at least make a meaningful difference, but sometimes they seem entirely random.
