Oooh, yep, there are probably many (and I'd love to hear other people's thoughts!) but the first thing I thought of was the adaptation, and the discrimination against Dixingren. The people who have access to all the good stuff say that you don't get any of it simply because you were born wrong.
And Shen Wei and his non-existent self-worth is rapidly becoming one of my favorite things about this book on this re-read! (But he really doesn't need additional bullshit like that to make it even worse - he's messed up enough without it. :P)
