I think it's "shame" as in awareness of one's own failings, or the quality of keeping oneself in line with society, or something? As in <outrage>"Have you no shame?"</outrage> Is there a better word for it? The opposite of shamelessness, anyway -- especially since this was in answer to Daqing calling Zhao Yunlan shameless. (I also suspect this kind of shame is more highly valued in China, given the culture of self-criticisms, etc, but I'm just guessing there.)
