Yeah, it doesn't matter - same as it doesn't matter that Shen Wei didn't literally save Zhao Yunlan's life when he cured him with the Sundial; the exchange still goes, "Why should I so casually owe you a life?"/"This life is what I'm returning to you," and they both mean it. ♥
