Dixingren sort of have to function pretty much like humans with the way they're able to pass for humans so easily for such long periods of time, that was my thinking. Nice to have it laid out like this though. I, uh, may have spent more time than advisable arguing with people who think that because the demons of the novel work one way, Dixingians must work the same way. (Also, Shen Wei very probably has a bed like normal humans do.)
I could see that. It seems like somebody's been stonewalling the schools idea, and he's sneaky enough to do that without being obvious about it, and he sure wouldn't want Dixingren to be able to access education and realize they've got a raw deal and things could be improved. gross IIRC the fact that he was stonewalling it was canon? But that might be just me misremembering. It's very likely, though, since Shen Wei is after all the Envoy – even if he's not terribly good at politics, he does have reputation on his side.
